my honest review for Hammam spa, Bangsar Village II

I finally had the chance to try out Hammam spa yesterday. I usually get my monthly pamper session at either Thai Odyssey or Jojoba Spa but I decided to try something new this month but honest to say, I wish I had some resistance to change and stick to Thai Odyssey instead. 

For the first trial, I signed up for full package head-to-toe. I don't know why I took the risk but maybe just because I lived my life too safely lately. A bit dramatic, but hey, nothing but the truth on my first post.

It has everything the spa offers except for "Hammam foot ritual".

My appointment was at 5, but I reached there at 4.40 as I'd been told to reach 15-20 minutes earlier to fill up some forms and a briefing. Well, the form took me like 2 minutes to complete and the briefing was basically about what they gonna do to me (that sounds unintentionally dirty) and for me to choose the oil for my massage. I can't be bothered to remember what the names of the 4 bottles presented to me but I opted for something to remove negative energy which costed me additional RM30. I know it doesn't work that way, but sometimes I'm a bit superficial.

So, I got some time to kill and took this ugly ass photo just as evidence that I was really there (or maybe I should attach my receipt here?);

Shortly after the photo was taken, I was led to a locker slash changing room. The lockers are equipped with 4-pincode lock so I felt secure to leave my belongings. After I changed to disposable panties and bra and covered myself with an oversized robe (I'm 1.65m tall, I still feel the robe was way too big), I went out and sat at waiting area. 

Few seconds later (no exaggeration), a Morrocan (or maybe Turkish?) lady showed up and led me to a shower room where I was stripped to only my panties. There were 4 customers in total at that point of time, all with panties only. I am alright with being naked in front of female strangers. So, if you don't, this place isn't for you.

I was asked to sit down and the lady pour me with warm water. She then put some thing on my hair (I guess it's "Rose Blossom Hair Masque" - what else could it be right?) and wrapped em in shower cap. I was then asked to lie down and she applied something from my neck to my toe. I don't know what is it but I guess it was clay and if I'm right, then it would be my "Moorish Body Envelopment" and was told to wait for 15 minutes. There was no clock there but I'm pretty sure I lied down there naked with other strangers for at least 30 minutes. The customer in front of me got pissed and started to take shower on her own. Then, only the ladies came to attend us.

I was poured with water to clean up the thing that was applied earlier and lied down again. This round the lady scrubbed me, like real good. It's really different from what I usually experienced in Thai or Indo-themed spas that I'd been to. She used a glove and really polish me like I was inanimate object. But the good thing is, I could see the dead skin cells being scrubbed off me. To be honest, it kinds of disgusting but I felt clean, really clean. 

Then she showered me again and applied some stuff. I was told to lie down for about 5 minutes but it was at least 15 minutes? Because I was singing in my head and can't be 4 songs took 5 minute?. So, yeah a lot of waiting time. The lady finally showed up, showered me using mint-y liquid which was refreshing and took off my shower cap and rubbed my hair for awhile. I expected the hair mask to make my hair smell nice, but I didn't smell anything and my hair becomes very coarse today (I have a very fine hair).It only gets a bit better after I applied some serum so I quite disappointed.

Before my last two treatments (massage and facial), I was served with hot tea and some dessert. Another lady approached me and led me to massage room. The massage was quite alright but the facial was definitely so-so. 

I felt asleep after awhile and was awaken when she steamed my face before my facial treatment. She only did extraction on my nose when I'm sure as hell I have white and blackheads throughout my face (I do facial treatment regularly at another beauty centre so I know about it). She applied and massaged my face using about 3 different oils. She's a bit hesitant when massaging my face, like worry she's going to hurt it or something. That's when I realised she's inexperienced. 

The awkward facial treatment finally over and when I reached to locker room to change, I looked at my phone, it was 8.45pm. So total treatment duration is 3 hours 45 minutes but you gotta discount the time I spent lying down naked waiting. I didn't particularly enjoy my time there but I slept really well last night. I finally got 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep and I woke up feeling fresh this morning.
